Tafsir Al-Baqarah 58: Allah Ta'ala Ordered For Pardon

Nasehat Muslim

وَإِذْ قُلْنَا ادْخُلُوا هَٰذِهِ الْقَرْيَةَ فَكُلُوا مِنْهَا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمْ رَغَدًا

وَادْخُلُوا الْبَابَ سُجَّدًا وَقُولُوا حِطَّةٌ نَّغْفِرْ لَكُمْ خَطَايَاكُمْ ۚ وَسَنَزِيدُ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

[البقرة: ٥٨]

"And [recall] when We said, "Enter this city and eat from it wherever you will in [ease and] abundance, and enter the gate bowing humbly and say, 'Relieve us of our burdens.' We will [then] forgive your sins for you, and We will increase the doers of good [in goodness and reward]."

[Surah Al-Baqarah: 58]

Tafsir/Intrepretation:

وهذا أيضا من نعمته عليهم بعد معصيتهم إياه
This is also His favor over them (the Children of Israel) after they have disobeyed Him

فأمرهم بدخول قرية تكون لهم عزا ووطنا ومسكنا

Allah commanded them to enter the land (baitul maqdis) as a good, homeland and residence

يحصل لهم فيها الرزق الرغد

And they get a lot of sustenance that they like

﴿حِطَّةٌ﴾

أي أن يحط عنهم خطاياهم بسؤالهم إياه مغفرته

("Free us")

that is to free them from their sins by asking Allah to forgive them

﴿نَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ خَطَايَاكُمْ﴾ بسؤالكم المغفرة

["We forgive your mistake"] with your forgiveness request

﴿وَسَنَزِيدُ الْمُحْسِنِينَ﴾

بأعمالهم،

[And we add to those who do good]

for their deeds
